The combat style in Halo was never my favorite thing about the game. With large health pools because of shields and a dependance on head shots for other game types, I personally find it hard to savor a kill even when it's in my favor when it takes 5 seconds to get it.
That why my favorite game types don't necessarily depend on traditional deathmatch tropes. Take a tip from me, if you want to try Halo even though you hate Halo, stay away from playlists like team slayer and game variants like team SWAT. Try these and you may grow to love Halo for what I like it for: the unpredictable carnage and not the kills.

Serebii.net and They're Amazing Dream World Pokemon List.
Here. Go here.
It seems no matter how old I get, I'll always like Pokemon. Not like my sporadic interest in Halo or my wavering personality on SSFIV. There's always something I want to train, level, and create to be my next great contender, in theory anyways.
I thrive on theory craft and meta-game rules. I love seeing how the game-before-the-game pans out and seeing how it works in actual gameplay. Not everything has been translated since Black and White released in Japan, but Serebii amazingly has a seemingly fully compiled list of all the Dream World abilities the previous Pokemon of generation IV can get, and boy are there some interesting things that'll shake up the tiers. Here are my favorites.

The Most Aggravating Thing in Monday Night Combat
So I just got off a game of the Summer of Arcade's smash hit, Monday Night Combat, when I just had one of the more annoying kind of games. Even though we one in overtime, we might've won sooner had something had not occurred. Don't get me wrong, MNC is a great game and I'd recommend it over any current FPS, but that doesn't mean the rest of Xbox Live isn't capable of ruining the experience sometimes, and this is my biggest annoyance.

Hitler Creates a Time-Paradox
Click for the original unless you want to be ironic or something. |
Hitler is totally into Pac-man and breaking the space-time continuum. Though somehow everyone knows what Pac-man is even though it's not supposed to exist for another 40 years. Who cares? It's vintage.
